The Journey Home

It was at first nothing more than a flicker,

Light shining through a key hole.

His heart began to beat much quicker,

As he caught a quick glimpse of his soul.

He looked at the darkness around him,

As it was slowly dispelled by the Light.

A comforting warmth wrapped around him,

And he knew that he’d changed on this night.

In a flash the door was thrown open,

The source of the Light was revealed.

The true vastness of all the world’s oceans,

To him was no longer concealed.

The answers to all of his questions,

His place in G-d’s divine scheme.

He stepped towards the waiting reception,

To that place that for so long he’d dreamed.

For a moment he looked all around,

At the place he’d spent life searching for.

Before now he’d only once found,

At its entrance a locked wooden door.

But alas he had been granted his entry,

To the celestial Lodge in the sky.

After searching for almost a century,

He’d finally come back home to die.

Quill to Parchment

by Jason Eddy

The room was nearly silent,
Save the scratching of his quill.
As a lone white taper flickered,
From atop the window sill.

Slowly he filled the parchment,
As each new thought would pass.
Occasionally gazing outside,
Beyond the frosted glass.

He’d made a new discovery,
On that chilly winter’s night.
He’d set out on a journey,
Towards a path of Light.

He recalled the many numbers,
Like three and five and seven.
That to the Seeker chartered,
A Path that led to heaven.

But the parchment captured more,
Thank simple sets of numbers.
Squares and celestial circles,
And allegory filled with wonder.

The silence then was broken,
As a clock tower somewhere chimed.
And with it he closed his journal,
For he knew that it was time.

To return into the circle,
And dwell among the others,
Who sought the Light that he sought,
And who now were all his Brothers.

A Source Within a Circle

by Jason Eddy

He stood upright in total silence,
Beholding the glorious sight.
Ignoring the hatred and violence,
That existed outside of the Light.

It shone from its place in the center,
A circle the shadow did cast.
On one side the solstice of winter,
On one side the solstice of June past.

It shone from its place in the center,
A circle the shadow did cast.
On one side the solstice of winter,
On one side the solstice of June past.

He knelt at the flame with his torch,
Determined to carry the Light.
Then quietly descended the porch,
And marched boldly back into the night.

All around him others were standing,
Each holding their torches up high.
As the circle continued expanding,
Beneath the All-Seeing Eye.

And so what began at the center,
And so what began at the Source.
Now caused walls of darkness to splinter,
As they yielded beneath the Light’s force.

Then as the flame came to falter,
Back to the source it did go.
The pattern foretold at the altar,
All As Above and So Below.
